John and Helen pastor Relate Church, a thriving family church with three worship centres in the Vancouver area. The church was planted in 1986, after John left his prosperous dental practice to become a full-time pastor. John and Helen travel internationally, speaking on marriage, family and relationships. They are both gifted authors and hosts of the television show Relate.

They have celebrated over 35 years of marriage and have raised three daughters. They also have six grandchildren.
